Story

Welcome to Eden Water Soap Company, an independent Soap-making business specialising in 'unique' artisan botanical soap. Eden Water Soap Company is based near the picturesque market town of Kelso in the rural Scottish Borders. We take our name from the nearby tributary the Eden Water, we are located just above its confluence with the majestic River Tweed.

As a health-conscious individual with an interest in natural ingredients and our natural surroundings, my interests include gardening, herbalism, crafting and cooking, I love to cook!  Over the past 30 years I have trained in various complementary therapies including Reflexology, Massage and Reiki. My introduction to natural skincare began over 30 years ago!  The skincare balms I made for my little boy I now make for my own little grand babies.

My passion and  ‘me time’ self-care essential has always been a glorious bar of glycerin rich, bubbly, natural essential oil soap. People return from holiday with duty free and nick-nacks, I return with soap, I’m obsessed with the stuff!

Eden Water came into existence over 10 years ago, following a fulfilling career within Social Services. As part of an incredible team in the 80's, when domestic abuse was still a ‘taboo topic’ we participated in setting up a Women’s Aid Refuge and support service in the Scottish Borders.  A rewarding but often challenging role. After 25 years involvement, with ongoing health concerns and a desire to refocus and re-channel, I decided I needed a ‘gap year’! Ta Da!........

Eden Water Roots ...... My own soap making journey took years of trial and error, with little internet or soap lessons back then, I read every book and article I could find on the subject. Combining my passions for cooking, botanicals and all things natural, I began to cook soap. My new hobby rapidly took over our house. My patient and talented engineer/musician husband built a Soap Studio in our cottage garden and rapidly evicted Eden Water Soap Co from our home!

It still brings immense pleasure creating natural soap from sctatch using an ancient cold process method. The ingredients are of exceptional quality, ethically sourced and sustainable. My soap formulations are unique and contain gentle botanical extracts to replenish and nourish. Meticulously crafted in small batches using the finest quality plant oils, botanical extracts, earth/sea minerals and fragranced with a blend of carefully selected therapeutic grade essential oils. 

Unique, luxurious and aromatic, each handcrafted bar is cured for six weeks, hand cut, planed, stamped, and carefully wrapped.
